Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was birthed in Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. His father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father had a Jewish background. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County in California at the age of seven. At the time, there was no electricity. Ryder was a voracious reader and spent her time reading books because there was no TV. Ryder was 12 when she enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. Lucas the film, which was released in 1986, was her first major role. Ryder was fifteen when she landed the role. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. Her hope was that the acting profession would alter the way she dealt with bullying. Sadly that didn't happen. However, it didn't stop her from pursuing dreams. In 1988 she had her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued playing roles that were successful in various films. In 1993, she was awarded an Oscar Award in the film The Age of Innocence.
