Selena
She broke down barriers within the world of music as a singer, performer as well as a designer. Her role as a Mexican American performer was traditional and contemporary. She brought Tejano into the mainstream through her ingenuity. Her untimely death splintered her rise in popularity, and as often happens when a glowing, charming star dies far too young caused many to grieve all the untapped potential. To prevent her accomplishments from being forgotten, many fans over the last few years have been motivated to do even more. Selena's tragic murder by a shooter triggered an outpouring of emotion in Latino communities that is comparable with the reaction to the death of Elvis Presley and John Lennon's. Selena was a wildly popular Latino artist across North America. Her music transcended the boundaries of culture and inspired both young people and older adults. Selena was a hot and stunning stage performer, who was often called Latina Madonna, was also the model on stage. She was active in anti-drug initiatives.
